Deo Langkhui translated as the Divine Sword, is another Assamese jewel that was recognised and felicitated with the Sahitya Academy Award in 2008. The novel shed light on the social, cultural and religious aspects of the Tiwa Society that prevailed in that time, and is based on historical evidence of the Tiwa Kingdom. The protagonist is the royal lady Chadraprabha who is banished by her husband for exchanging dialogue with a king from the West. It is rife with romance, conflict, and is a fantastic story with a historical background. The author deftly burrows into the reader and fills it with vivid imagery of the customs and traditions and practises in the Assam of the yester years.
