How To Write A Novel: An Advanced Fiction Workshop

Have you written stories but are not sure whether they are published worthy? Do you have ideas for stories but are not able to express it using the right tools? Are you looking for constructive feedback on your stories and want it to be workshopped in groups of talented writers and readers?

Join us for an interactive advanced fiction writing online class where writer Michelle D'costa will help you take your fiction to the next level.

We will be focusing on four major aspects of good storytelling which is plot, character, dialogue and setting in addition to other aspects.

The highlight of this class will be workshopping your stories.

  • Why is workshopping helpful?

You will benefit from the insights of multiple writers who are avid readers. You will be workshopping other participants’ works too. Each sentence of your work will be dissected and analysed to make it stand out. It will keep you engaged in a supportive and hardworking community. It doesn’t end with the class, we will keep in touch and you will find a beta reader for the future as well!

Some of the questions we will be addressing in the class are:

  • How do you create a strong character profile that a reader can’t resist?
  • How do you make your character grow in your narrative?
  • How do you do justice to your secondary characters as well?
  • How do you write dialogues that are authentic?
  • How do dialogues add value to your story?
  • How do you create an engaging plot that will keep the reader hooked to your story?
  • How to set your story in a ‘place’ that the reader can visit just through your story?
  • How do you choose the right words to create a certain mood for your story?

In two sessions of two hours each, you will learn the concepts of Plot, Character, Dialogue and Setting in-depth. We will be discussing point of view, narration style, show vs tell, character sketches, dialogue writing, narrative arcs and more in detail. You will learn to workshop your stories with groups of enthusiastic and passionate writers. Sign up now for this class to explore the craft of fiction in-depth and take your writing to the next level. Reading and close analysis of classics and contemporary works of fiction included. Bound Testimonial

  • I've thoroughly enjoyed the sessions hosted by Michelle and Tara. Their knowledge and sheer love for books and literature make the classes interesting and interactive. I've had the opportunity to get such different and intriguing perspectives on varying topics from them and aspiring writers. It's been an enriching experience in a short span of time.  The topics for sessions/workshops are intelligently chosen, providing ample opportunities to participants to share ideas, theories and the like. Analysis, reasoning, styling, and editing are some of the active discussions that occur with like-minded folks.  Thus far, I've attended sessions on How to Edit Your Book (Tara), How to Read Like A Writer (Tara), and a 2-Week Advanced Fiction Class (Michelle). Looking forward to many more and a long-lasting relationship with Bound. Happy to have found you.      ”

  • What do I say about the Bound Story Writing classes? As the Aladdin song goes, it opened a whole new world for me. An extremely well planned and executed workshop. I attended both the Basic and Advanced levels and the insights, tips, readings , activities were all very enriching. For aspiring writers like us, it opens the floodgates and you want to pick up the pen and notepad and start writing as soon as you can. Thank you Michelle for guiding us so well. I would have never imagined that I would sit and dissect a science fiction story someday or write a letter as an unreliable narrator. But I did and thoroughly enjoyed the process.Would love to attend more workshops with Bound in the future.  ”

  • I thank Michelle for a wonderful experience with her Advanced Fiction Writing class. The insights gained from her have helped me develop writing rituals to help me write better and solve the issues I was facing while writing. The tools and techniques she shared have helped me immensely in writing with structure. The class was really nicely structured with discussions and exercises, that not only helped me recognise how to get over the problems I was facing, but also helped me learn from her and the other class members.
